A Long Narrow Garden By The Sea

This contemporary house contained the remnants of an older garden which had been badly damaged by the building process. Paving and steps into the garden had already been installed, but the garden needed bringing to life.

Because the garden was very overlooked by a public footpath, we needed to create both privacy and strongly directed views within the garden.

We created wide borders around the existing terrace which, together with a tall hedge along the boundary gave a much greater feeling of privacy. the older garden around the house flows into a tall wild flower meadow with mown paths to a tiny woodland garden beyond.

The transformation from a neglected plot and tired garden has been amazing and beyond our expectation! Charlotte created a cohesive, yet surprising flowing space of shrubs and flower beds as well as a wild flower garden.

Her design incorporated the natural landscape and flora as well as the house which created a space that feels like an extension of the house. We have been absolutely thrilled!”
