This small garden in South London is shortly to be installed – exciting times! The first and second floor maisonette has been recently refurbished by my young client’s interior designer mother – it looks fantastic, timelessly stylish... but the tired and overlooked garden really didn’t do it justice.

Taking inspiration from contemporary sources I put together some initial design proposals which were enthusiastically received! The design of the new blue fence was inspired by feature in The Garden magazine – it’s a brilliant way to create privacy and add colour, making a feature of the boundary itself and a backdrop for the simple design of geometric hedging and informal airy planting against a floorscape of decorative tiled paving, slatey gravel and timber decking.
