This commission came up when this Grade one listed mansion was being subdivided into five separate dwellings. Plymouth City Council and English Heritage wanted to ensure that the historic parkland setting for this important building continued to enhance its position in the landscape, and that any divisions into separate garden areas, whilst essential for the new deed plans, appeared seamlessly to meld into the existing parkland. I designed banks of new shrub and tree planting for the parkland, and at the request of English Heritage, a simple knot parterre for the main terrace.
